Q: What do you fasten with a Metal-Tack?

A: The Metal-Tack fastening system is good for any light attachment. Most of our customers use our tacks to fasten metal nameplates. They can also be used for cable clamps, stops, wire seals, balance weights.

Q: What materials can I fasten to?

A: Metal-tacks will fasten to steel, cast iron aluminum or any metal that has a hardness of less than Rockwell B100 or Brinell 240. Special alloy tacks are available for harder materials. Send us a sample and we will recommend the right tack for you.

Q: Do I need a hole in the tag or part that I want to attach?

A: Yes, if there is no hole in the top piece, the locking groove in the Metal-Tack will plug up as it passes through and will not lock.

Q: How thin can my base material be?

A: Generally, the Metal-Tack system needs a minimum 1/8". If the material is well supported, it can be thinner.

Q: What are Metal-Tacks made of?

A: Metal-Tacks are made from alloy or stainless steel. They are formed on a screw machine and hea treated to be harder than the material that they are penetrating. Standard plating is zinc and copper/Nickel plating is also available.

Q: How much do I buy Metal-Tacks?

A: Metal-Tacks are priced by quantity and sold directly to end users as well as through fastener distributors. All fasteners are packaged in plastic vials and sold in lots of 1,000 pieces. Contact us and we will be happy to send you a price list.

Q: How much is the air tool and how long will it last?

A: The standard air tool and driver are approximately $600. There are no gears or large parts to wear out. The seals are heavy duty and will last for years if they are kept oiled. This tool is made in the U.S. and carries a full year warranty.

Q: Is the system safe?

A: We have an excellent safety record. The tool's safety device requires the operator to press the tool firmly against a solid surface and depress a trigger before it will activate.

Q: How easy is the tool to use?

A: With a little practice the tool is easy to operate. The tool comes with an instruction manual and a training video is available.

Q: Do you make special Metal-Tacks for unusual applications?

A: Yes, lot's of them. Send us your application and we will be glad to prepare an estimate and proposal. If you like the first pass, we will make samples for test purposes.

Q: How do I find out if this system will work in my plant?

A: Call us, fax us, or email us. We will arrange for a representative to bring in an air tool and demonstrate the system on your production floor.
